SUMMARY:
Hi Reader how’s it going? Have you ever decided to get your digital files in order... only to give up halfway through? You start strong—renaming a few things, moving some folders around—but then realize you're not sure where anything should go. Something fits in more than one place. Or doesn't seem to fit anywhere. You backtrack, undo your progress, and leave it all messier than before. That kind of "start-and-stop" organizing isn't your fault. It happens when you dive in without a clear strategy. That's why I always recommend starting with a Content Map. Task: Make a Quick List of 5-7 Major Categories of Content You ManageThis is the very first step in my organizing method, and it's more powerful than it sounds. Just take a moment to name the big buckets of digital content in your life. They might include things like:
You don't need to do anything with the files just yet. Just identify the categories. Think of it as drawing a map before you start packing for a trip—you'll waste less time, take fewer detours, and know exactly where you're going. Once you have your list, it becomes so much easier to structure your folders, name your files, and avoid organizing the same things multiple times. I made a quick 8 minute YouTube video of me just starting a content map (at 10:45 pm…just to prove that you don’t have to necessarily be at your best or have tons of time to do this task). Or here’s the link directly to my Content Map in Lucidspark…live! You’ll get a different view if you click today vs a few days from now. (You’ll need to create a free Lucid account in order to view it.) Free Offer: Work Shutdown Ritual Mini-WorkshopI'm excited to share that I'm part of Michelle Lefler's Oracle's Map Bundle this week.
